1176 sq. ft., 2-bedroom, one bathroom lakefront home/cottage on the north side of Kelly’s Point near the southeast corner of the Island. This house has 150 feet of Lake Michigan frontage. The two bedrooms actually have six double beds total. One bedroom has two sets of bunks with each of the four beds being double beds.
This is an almost new cottage that replaced an older A-frame that was on the lot; when you walk in you think it’s brand new. It has a small utility room with washer and dryer, an ante room with storage space, the two bedrooms, the bath, and a great room. The main room is the living room area with an efficient wood stove, a dining area, and a full kitchen all in one open room, but each part is nicely separated. A large picture window and a door with window in it make up almost all of the great room wall that is on the lake side. On the lake side of the great room is a 6-foot wide, concrete slab open porch (6’ x 24’) with the main roof over it.
This house has only been used a couple of weeks each November since it was built by four partners who used it as their hunting camp. It is located very close to the access to hundreds of acres of State land open to hunting. It’s also very close to the public swimming beach at Iron Ore Bay (two miles west). The Island’s best fishing lake, Lake Geneserath, is virtually across the street from it.
The cottage was designed and built for summer use by the four families but some of the partners have built other homes here. It has only 150 feet of lake frontage but it seems like it has 600 feet or more. The first building site on the adjacent lot to the north will have to be either inland on the west side of the main road or considerably north of this cottage to be on the lake. A special feature of this house and lot is the fact that it makes up the north side of Kelly’s Point and has an “underwater point” that comes off the north line of the property and runs hundreds of feet out into Lake Michigan in front of this lake frontage. It’s one of just a few spots on the Island where the wave action from a south or southwest wind is absolutely fascinating to watch. You have to see it on a windy day to understand it or appreciate it.
The asking price has been reduced by $70,000. It is now really a HOT BUY for this new home and lake frontage .
